2
What makes you a Master Dog Behaviourist?
Pat has over 17 years’ experience working hands-on with thousands of dogs across the UK. His approach combines proven behavioural science with real-world understanding. The “Master” title recognises experience in complex cases and advanced qualifications from the British College of Canine Studies.
3
Do you work with all breeds and ages?
Yes. Pat works with every breed and age, from playful puppies beginning to show early signs of behavioural trouble to older rescue dogs with deeply rooted fear, reactivity, or aggression. His calm, structured approach focuses on the most challenging and severe cases, including dogs with bite histories, trauma, or unpredictable behaviour.
4
How do I know if my dog needs a behaviourist or a trainer?
If your dog’s problems go beyond obedience, such as anxiety, aggression, fear, or unpredictable behaviour, a behaviourist is the right choice. Pat identifies and resolves the emotional causes behind the behaviour, not just the symptoms.
5
What happens during an initial behaviour consultation?
Pat begins with a free initial phone call to discuss your dog’s behaviour and determine the best next steps. If you decide to go ahead, the next stage is a two-hour in-person consultation. During this session, Pat spends a short time observing your dog displaying the behaviours you’re concerned about, carries out a full assessment, and then demonstrates how practical techniques address the behaviour in real time. Pat then teaches you exactly how to replicate and maintain the results yourself, ensuring long-term success and understanding.
6
Where are you based?
Pat is based between Northamptonshire and Essex, regularly working in areas such as Corby, Kettering, Colchester and Tendring. He also provides behaviour consultations anywhere across England, Wales, and Scotland, travelling nationwide for complex or urgent cases. In addition to private clients, Pat works closely with rescue charities in Essex and Suffolk, helping rehabilitate and re-home dogs with severe behavioural issues.
7
How soon can I book a consultation?
Consultations are usually available within a few weeks, depending on travel distance and case complexity. Urgent cases are prioritised where possible.
8
Can you work with my vet or trainer?
Absolutely. Pat often collaborates with dog care professionals to provide consistent, multi-disciplinary care.
9
I’ve used trainers before but haven’t had results. Can you still help?
Yes. Many of Pat’s clients come to him after working with one or more trainers without success. Pat’s work targets the underlying emotional and psychological causes of the problem. He helps dogs with issues that may have persisted or even worsened after standard training, including aggression, reactivity, and anxiety. Pat’s calm, practical approach shows owners exactly how to create lasting change, even in severe or previously “unfixable” cases.
